    1- process alpha option in the rendering panel
    2- you can't render selected in fstorm

        you did not check the process alpha
        it's under the gi clamp
        if you have glare enabled you'll get weird halos in the buffer but thei'll disappear when saving out pngs tiff exr or whatever supports alpha channels

        you can output png sequence with the channel embedded

        if you want objs to clip your subject visibility while retaining the alpha channel you can give a go to this method:

        obj A = is the battery pack or the subject you want to render selected (the clipped obj)
        obj B = the box you don't want to appear (the clipper obj)

        use the process alpha option in the renderer panel

        make B a matte material, remove bump, specular and transparency (if you don't do this you'll have problems with the clipper being somehow visible in alpha) remove cast shadow from the obj properties

        in this way you have workaround to get the effect you want as render selected

        reder, save, composite

        let me know
