I try fstorm render these days compare with corona render,I should say, with Double ES E5 2643v2 ,corona run fast then my single gtx980 8gb.
My E5 2643 v2 es which is 6 core 12 thread (3.5Ghz full loaded 3.7Ghz Boost) only cost me about 100 USD or 100 EUR each, and ES E5 2696v2 which is 12 core 24 thread (2.8GHz with full loaded 3.0GHz Boost) is about 200 USD or 200 EUR each.Gtx980 is about $246 USD or 229 EUR in china.
I could upgrade 2 *Es 2696 v2 on my current motherboard(Intel C602),and I could install 2 gtx980 8GB too,but with the testrender these days,I found that corona run faster on my platform~,,so for now I would buy ES cpus for corona render, but without ES cpu the Gpu is the best choice ,and I can upgrade Gpu easyly without upgrade the motherboard,so the Double Es 2696v2 cpu are the best choice for my computer now,but Gpu rendering has the great potential in the future.
The result is corona render is a better choice for now,And I will stare at fstorm render too.
BTW if U could afford Vray 3.5(1000USD),vray is the best choice.
Es cpu vs Final release cpu,Ok! It is about 700 USD U should pay for the Final release E5 2643 v2. For most people, people work at day, computer rendering at night,so doing the still image with cpu or gpu is no difference, but with Gpus ,I could try animation which is great.
Last words:I think fstorm should put all the mind on the flythrough camera animation for Archviz,No need to reload the scene every frame if only the camera or lighting moving(I think Karba can made something like if there is only new appearance objects loaded ,then only load new things not to reload the whole entire scene, that is how the Videl Game doing),or fstorm could have a option when on then not reload the scene just upgrade the camera or lighting(that is much easyer),and then reach the top ray or noise threshold save the image then do the next frame.
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH!!
