Depends where you come from.
I jumped from win7, max 2014, and old SSD to win10, max 2017 and 2x more speed SSD.
Max 2017 without plugins is much more slow to start than 2014 with some plugins.
Viewport better under 2017, and very very rarely crash, less than 2014 which already rarely crash.Software: FStormRender: 1.5.0h | Drivers NV: 456.71 | 3dsMax: 2020.3 | Windows: 10 x64
Hardware: Gpu: GTX1080 Phoenix GLH | Cpu: i7-2600k@4.5GHz | Ram: 16GB | SSD: Samsung 860 Pro

I don't know about 2016. As i said, i jumped from 2014 to 2017 without intermediate. All what i know, there are far fewer differences between 2016 and 2017 than 2014 and 2017.
The better way is read and look independent tests and benchmarks.Software: FStormRender: 1.5.0h | Drivers NV: 456.71 | 3dsMax: 2020.3 | Windows: 10 x64

And what about 2016, Sylk, do you know it? I currently have it and I noticed it's slower than before, but if 2017 is even slower, I won't change.
Thanks!

130MB with my 2560x1600.
106MB with my 1920x1200
That's why i decrease monitor resolution for rendering.Last edited by Sylk; 12-10-2016, 07:20 PM.Software: FStormRender: 1.5.0h | Drivers NV: 456.71 | 3dsMax: 2020.3 | Windows: 10 x64
