  • Create FStorm Camera from View

    Hi, Karba.

Please, can you add a "Create FStorm Camera From View" option into the max "Create" menu?

Nor by adding a button "Get View Settings" in command panel (visible in Create mode / hidden in Modify mode) when we create FStormCamera ; Press this button fill parameter fields with active view parameters. Then a button "Create" add FStormCamera into the scene.

    Something like that:

Name:	fscamfromview.png
Views:	1
Size:	109.5 KB
ID:	3265

    "Create FSCamera" button actions:
    - If no view position collected, then add camera at 0,0,0 in scene
    - If no view direction collected, then add camera pointing to north (front view)
    - All other settings are defined by the FStormCamera settings

I think it could be pretty convenient.

Thanks a lot for your amazing works. Luv FStorm!

Do other render have this option?

If I recall correctly, Modo does this, blender might do or has the facility to sync a camera with the current view. I'm also pretty sure Maya definitely does...

Ah wait I believe I mistook Karba's response, the above statement is correct for the application, not I guess the actual renderer setup, although this wouldn't be a problem if standard camera could be used.

I am talking about 3ds max.

Ctrl + C creates only standard camera, not VRay one ore any others.

Not sure. Same lack for VRay and i never use other external render.

no in 3ds max you cant with vray do this, isnt it easier to just create a normal camera and just run the fstorm converter?

An alternative, yes. Easier, not really.

Maybe I'm getting this wrong, but you can create a FStorm Camera form view

Create and drag out the camera in your viewport and then hit Ctrl+C

If you create cam from default renderer (not fstorm), be sure select fstorm renderer before convert.

FSConverter in quad menu doesn't work if renderer is not fstorm.

Hello All, in case it is helpful, I have created a simple script to create an FStormCamera from View, copying the ToneMapping and DOF settings from Render Setup, and locking all the cameras transforms. There is a separate script for simply copying ToneMapping and DOF Settings from Render Setup to a selected camera or active camera viewport. I didn't stumble on this thread until I had started a separate one, so it can be found here, https://fstormrender.com/forum/forum/...th-tonemapping

I hope this helps some of you. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know.

About Vray I think that from version 3.4 or 3.3, it's using standard cameras to render, and creation of vray cameras have been disabled. That's right? So the ctrl+C is working with it.

I did a script to create camera from viwport and to convert a standard camera to fstorm, but any time I try to up load it here it give me an error, I don't know why, it's just some a few kb
