  • Separate Index of Reflection and Index of Refraction

    Feature request + Bug report

eg For chrome mat, I think it isn't logical to set IOR to 50 when its real IOR is 2.23

Also when I set a Vray mtl with IORefraction to 2.23 and next i convert it to FStorm the New mat is correctly converted to a chrome mat and preview looks correct too but its IOR shows 1.0 (see next post for details).
If i change this value mat become not chrome.

So, or the field is not updated by convert, or an internal IOReflection (Fresnel IOR?) exist but not exposed.

Please, can you add (or expose) Index of Reflection instead use common IOR?

    AND allow IOR < 1

So, in fact, after some tests:

if (Vray Fresnel IOR < 1) or (Vray Fresnel Reflections is Checked and Fresnel IOR is Locked) then FStorm IOR field = 1 but looks like 1000
if Vray Fresnel IOR >= 1 then FStorm IOR = Vray Fresnel IOR and looks same
if Vray Fresnel Reflections not Checked then FStorm IOR = 1000 and looks like 1000

Vray IOR value doesn't affect anything on FStorm Mtl

      1) metal ior doesn't make any sense.
      2) having different ior for reflections and refractions is physically incorrect.
      3) vray transform ior less than 1.0 by function 1/ior. So ior 0.5 mean 2.0. I can do the same.

I understand what you mean, however this materials properties seems to be based on physical behavior http://refractiveindex.info/?shelf=m...=Cr&page=Rakic

Maybe adding some other properties like reflectance?
