  • Angle Affect On 1 As Default

    Is there anything that speaks against having Angle Affect (Glossy Fresnel, right?) on 0.5 or 1 as default? Shouldn't this give more realistic results? Or what about a global parameter in the render settings?

    V-Ray has Glossy Fresnel turned on as default in the new version:

    Karba The manual is missing this parameter btw...

    In this case old scenes may look differently. I can't change default values.

      Previous materials would keep a value of 0 (or whatever was setup before) of course so that old scenes look exactly the same. Would that be possible?

      "Based on the fact that GGX and glossy Fresnel effect more accurately represent physical materials, the upcoming service packs of V-Ray will default to GGX with Glossy Fresnel on."

        Yes, that would be quite handy if every new FStormMtl comes with "Angle Sffect =1.0", because we need to change it for every material we create.

          I did an script to create a new material in the selected mat slot, and pass 0.8 by default, don't have the code here but is super easy

            Hello guys. Tell me please, should i use a value of 1.0 for absolutely all materials in my scene ? Or, maybe not for all ? For example for plants, grass, leaves, such kind of organic materials ? How can i make a right decision ?
