  • 3ds Max using 4gb vram ist that normal?

    Hello,

I am new to the topic of GPU rendering and I was shocked as I looked to the vram usage of my cards.
800mb Windows and over 4Gb of vram usage with a blank 3ds max 2018 file.
What is going on? Is it really normal for 3ds max to use 36% of my available memory?

It would be nice if someone could help me.

    Do you use win10?
It takes quite a lot of video memory.
Other software may takes video memory aswell.

      Hello Karba,
I found the culprit. It was the viewport antialiasing setting from 3ds max. The setting only applied after a restarted of max. It goes down from 4gb vram to 600mb vram and it looks like ass without AA.
