does it has a special environment texture, or it constantly updates a bitmap file?

that's the thing am not fully sure, i have seen it been used by others but i personally don't own a license to it, it seems to be able to use multiple hdri maps in some way to control the lighting, great for studio shots, wanted to grab a copy of it but since am using fstorm i have to make sure first

It uses an temp exr file while using the normal max bitmap.

For exemple in Vray It uses Vrayhdri with a temporary connected Exr map you create in hdr studio light.

it would be amazing if it was supported, here is a simple video showing what it does, so amazing to have so much control for light placement, especially for product shots so crazy

Fake lights, fake look.... No FStorm spirit. Easier and faster to put some physical lights in scene.

for cars not really and product renders, then in those cases its all fake, clients want reflections in some hard to setup places most times and not easy or even possible with any renderer alone

So, fstorm needs autoupdate image texture to work with hdri light studio?

At least, but since Fstorm is not using the normal environment slot of max I don't know if it would work. I think your best guess is to get in touch with the devs of hdri light studio.

Absolutely not, no way in hell is putting physical lights in quicker to set up that HDR Light studio.......it is astonishingly quick and the results are amazing.
Your argument of 'fake lights' is like saying we should not use a HDRI for the sky and sun as it is 'fake' compared to Fstorm physical sun and sky!!!
Oh yeah....there's also the fact that HDR Light Studio can actually place physical lights in your scene as well!!!!......it is like voodoo!
Seriously, it is one of the best CG software on the market and its development team are a bench mark for any software developer.

I just give my opinion about the posted demo video... And FOR ME, it looks fake and intricate. Sorry for that.

Yes, the HDRI is fake but it is more complicated and lengthy to build a full scene to replace it than replacing fake glints by real.

But don't worry, it's not me which decides whether fstorm must support it or not.

your right it looks fake, especially for car renders and product shots but its exactly what customers want and it pays big bucks its good to have it working, its something i wish i had right now

It's better when someone states its their own opinion rather than spouting it like gospel.
The plain hard FACT is that HDR light studio is used by the all the top studios and product viz artists in the world and for very good reason.
Lightmap are a great bunch of guys too who would probably welcome FStorm with open arms.......i really hope it happens..... would be a match made in heaven!
