  • Replacement of 2 GTX 1070 against a GTX 1080 TI ?

    Hello,

    I would like to know if it would be wise to separate me from my current 2 GTX 1070 to replace them with a GTX 1080 TI? Whether it is for my 3D renderings by GPU, will there be a difference or my two GTX 1070 cards weight against this high-end card?

    Thank you in advance for your information.

    2x 1070 are faster than single 1080ti.
    1080ti = 1.5 1070

    But 1080ti have a decent amount of ram, which is 11gb vs 8gb of 1070. So if you working with large scenes, like exteriors, maybe, with a lot of scattered plants, 1080ti will be good choice. But if your scenes are fit in 8gb ram of 1070, i think it is good to continue use 2x 1070.

    I made some exteriors with single 1070, fstorm and forestpack, and i haven't reached 8gb limit yet. But it was very close to it.

      these scene ate about ~5-6 gb of ram of 1070. It was a couple moths ago, when i tested fstorm for exterior works.

        Thanks for your reply, I think I will stay on my 2 current GTX 1070 cards. It is better to remove the sli in the interface Nvidia I believe so that the calculations are faster rendering?

          can't say anything about sli because i never used multiple cards, but i saw some posts at our forum and people advised to turn off sli for faster rendering. Anyway, you can make your own tests and compare results with sli turned on and sli turned off

            If acquiring a 1080 ti was in the cards, I would add another two 1070s instead, I guess the 1070 is where the money is, and SLI should be off

                I would like to have a benchmark rendering with a possessor of a GTX 1080 TI just to see the difference in rendering time.

                  You have to update video driver version. Don't install the latest one. use some 2-3 months old.

                    I see the SLI questions coming up again and again: can't this be made more obvious, like in the installer and in the donwload section? DO NOT USE SLI, EVER... SERIOUSLY, TURN IT OFF...NOW!!!!!! ...or something
